Position Purpose:
To assist in the total management of the security function within the TFR defined security corridors.
To define, drive, and continuously improve the security operations center technology strategies.
Evaluate, coordinate, and oversee the daily corridor security operations, and liaison
Co-ordinate regular security assessments within the corridor for weakness identification.
Assist in the development, review, and implementation of security policy, procedures at respective depots within the
Corridor;
Position outputs:
To assist in the management of the total security function (personnel, physical, communication, information, and surveillance
security)
Initiates short and long-term security strategies for respective security functions to continuously enhance operational
effectiveness
Consult with Depot Managers to develop and implement operational procedures, policies, and best practice security models
Manage and direct the effective implementation of new technologies and the utilization of existing systems
Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal departments to coordinate the implementations of all
security-related functions across the entire corridor
Perform security operations, security threat assessment, and provide advisory services
Assess and remediate incidents including driving root cause analysis and correction
Conduct monitoring of security events and escalate to appropriate parties
Ensure all security capabilities owned and operated by the Security Department are operating effectively. Responsible for
identifying continuous security capability improvements that will help protect the rail infrastructure.
Establish and maintain operational plans with clear tasks and delivery dates to ensure successful joint execution of
security-related operations
Maintain security operations and administrative procedures to ensure daily operations are documented in a clear and
concise fashion
Provide awareness activities about the security operations capabilities and practices
Provide leadership and support of security operations activities, including but not limited to security architecture, physical
security, and service desk operations
Provide coaching and mentoring to depots security operational staff
Serves as a key point of contact to ensure the delivery of high-quality services for assigned account; evaluates service
quality and initiates any necessary communication and/or corrective action on time
Implements key performance measures, and tracking tools in cooperation with stakeholders to enhance security team
effectiveness and performance
Coordinates and performs security threat reviews using industry best practices and specific assessment tools
Meet weekly with Depots Managers for performance reviews; addresses any actual or potential problems and provide
support in security planning
Coordinate with the Training Manager to define and update the training needs for the staff
Assist to review, develop and implement all operational procedures to ensure that they are effective, represent best practice,
and are properly adhered to across the corridor
To ensure proper and adequate coordination of the security function at the corridor
To ensure correct and timeous availability of information for decision making and ensure data integrity for security databases
To ensure effective management and efficient deployment of security resources
To implement security operational business plan to ensure alignment with the security strategic objectives.
To ensure efficient and effective functioning of security resources, processes, and procedures
Qualifications & Experience:
NQF Leve 7 Qualification in security management or the criminal justice cluster and/or extensive relevant training in
management of large-scale in Security Operations and Stakeholder Liaison.
Minimum 8 years’ experience within the Security industry in managing security operations, of which at least 4 years in a
management role
Seasoned professional with advanced knowledge and experience in crime prevention, including organised crime and
implementation of security programs within large, complex operations environments
Advanced experience and knowledge of the use and leveraging of intelligence in crime prevention and in support of security
operations
Sound knowledge about all relevant legislation, governance and management of risk and compliance
Leadership training will be an advantage
Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19
